Originally from Indiana, Johnzo West was a member of the band The Swell. The Swell formed in 2003 and played a sort of groove rock which was showcased through touring across the Midwest for a couple years. At the end of 2005 they made their way out to California where their journey ended in 2006.

Now a solo artist, Johnzo is performing what I would call folk music, quite a change from his previous band.

I was hoping the music would draw me in a bit more during the live performance than when listening to his tunes online. Unfortunately, it didn't. Not to say Johnzo and his cohort didn't come onto the stage and play their hearts out, they did. It was nice to watch, but I lost interest after a few songs.
