Optiganally Yours began with their sound clip of a child saying words like poopie and caca which went into "Compressor/Expander". The next one was "Remo" which Rob Crow stripped down for, ending up in a pirate kind of costume. There is also a little dance he did for it as he always does. For "Oar" he added on viking attire including a plastic helmet that kept slipping off and making him laugh until he had to give up keeping it on. After "Dr. Smooth" was "Poodle Man" which is always funny with its barber with a jerry curl "actor" ending up giving Crow his out of style hair style. There was a nice beer burp during the singing which went fine with the silly mood.
A couple songs later was "Hugs" which is their crowd participation time. Well, at least for one audience member who was put on stage and got to hold hand drawn and labeled animal cards for Crow to read off in part of the song. This person was a friend of Crow's from karaoke apparently who flawlessly pulled off his part. The next song did not start out so smoothly. Pea Hix, the other member of OY did not notice Crow was drinking and started the song when he was not ready. They stopped and Crow called out, "Quality!" before they started the song once more. Within the song the guitar was passed around between the helpers on stage and when it was time for Crow to get it back he had a beer in hand so one of the helpers switched it for the guitar and took a swig of the half empty bottle just as he snatched it from Crow's hand. Also, at the end Travis Nelson of the long gone bands Heavy Vegetable and Thingy came from the back of the room with a large fake yellow fish.
The next song Crow opened saying, "I really love this song. It's so beautiful." I would have to agree that it was and especially in comparison to most OY songs, having more emotional quality to it despite the silliness included in it as well. A couple songs later on "Mr. Wilson" the band on stage was clapping and no one in the crowd was participating, so after a few seconds Crow said, "Come on you fucks." It was said in all light heartedness though and made everyone laugh. On the last song there was some acting done where Hix pretended to yell at Crow to dance and he was now down to a speedo and added curly elf shoes. This sort of bare all ending is to be expected with OY. The performance was one of the more entertaining sets of the band and included new material that has long been said to be coming out soon. I for one am tired of waiting but at least they put on a good show to keep us going until then.
