I enjoyed the show, but have to say the new band has some big shoes to fill. I’ve seen Son Volt several times at this venue and each time they’ve brought the noise. Very tight. This show felt a little like a roller coaster, but at the end I was still glad I came along for the ride. The new album (The Search) is great and I enjoyed hearing it live. I was a little disappointed they didn’t play more songs off of Straightaways and Trace though. Hell, there’s a ton of Uncle Tupelo songs I would love to hear live, but that time has probably long passed. They did play for almost two hours.
