Tim put on quite the show for about two hours. It was a magic carpet ride without the drugs. He would switch off between playing a few songs strictly instrumental and then sing a few. I’ve never heard someone get the sounds out of an acoustic guitar like he did. Quite interesting. Of course, there were some pedals involved. The second song melded into the Peter Gabriel tune “In Your Eyes” which was a great instrumental version. Tim would power through some insanely intricate riffs then go into song that was simple and pure. Then after singing a few songs he would bust into that cosmic acoustic guitar business. The next song proved he’s faster than Yngwie Malmsteen. (80’s hair band...nevermind) We were then treated to the 12 string. The second song he played on it was called “Ancestors.” I’m not sure why this didn’t occur to me sooner, but after standing 10 feet away from him I realized “he’s a classical guitarist.” Duh, I know. A few times throughout the show he would start a loop and keep building on it to create a rather unique sound. He finished the night with a couple song encore that included “Hotel Lost Horizon” and “Bang a gong...get it on” Hahaha. Good times and a great show.Check out his music at: www.timreynolds.com or www.myspace.com/timreynoldstr3
