I spent the last couple of weeks becoming familiar with West Indian Girl's debut self titled album. With song titles like Trip, Dream, Visions, etc my poking fun of their psychedelic nature is justified. Especially after the guitar player says "Just send me cosmic thoughts I don't need words" after being introduced by the extremely attractive female singer, which leads me into the next comment overheard in the audience by my friend standing next to two older guys. "That girl makes me want to go to Thailand tonight..."

I saw West Indian Girl last year here in San Diego at Street Scene. They put on a good performance. This show was no exception. The first few songs were pretty good then they played a couple unrecorded songs. One was titled "Elevated" or I'm guessing that was the title. It was superb. The other new song following it was probably titled "Carry Me to the Ocean." This song was also good. Then we heard "Sofia" which I remember from Street Scene. They finished the set with an extended version of "What are you afraid of." Then they came back out for an encore and played a few more tunes. Enjoyed it.
