This was my second time seeing the female emcee duo Addiquit perform live. I became a fan when I stumbled upon them one night at Bar Pink. Bethany Whitwer is the main Emcee of the group, and at the Casbah show she performed with some other girl who attempted to do backups, but who really just added a few yeahs and heys.

Both girls were quite drunk, making for an awkward and almost embarrassing performance. The second girl really did nothing but distract from the show, because even though Addiquit (Bethany Whitwer) was noticeably intoxicated, she still managed to spit out her rhymes on time. It was the second girl who was off beat, missed her beat, and just sort of bobbed around the whole time.

Still, the beats are what drive Addiquit, and they were very impressive. Machinegun from New York is the man behind the music, and Addiquit informed the crowd that she spoke with him that day and called him an “Asshole.” I was excited to see them again, but disappointed to see her so inebriated, and I’m sure everyone who spent $10 to get in was too. Hopefully she cleans up her act because she has great potential.
