True Elvis Costello And The Attraction fans will be as disappointed as I was after seeing Elvis Costello perform at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, N.J. Tuesday night June 9,2009. What a waste of my time and my family's it was to drive down to Red Bank expecting to see and hear the tunes of the '70's that made Elvis Costello famous. Not one of those tunes such as Allison, Pump It Up, Radio Radio, Peace Love and Understanding,Can't Stand Up For Falling Down,Olivers Army, Clubland or Accidents Will Happen did he play. These are the songs that put him on the charts in the late 70's that were very popular songs on the college music scene back in the day. Instead what we witnessed was the complete oposite of what we expected. Elvis Costello and his new Hillbilly Band are all about country music now and I am not into Country Music. Well let me just say I am not into Country Music coming from once early Punk Rocker Elvis Costello and I do not recommend anyone go to see Elvis Costello today for this type of music. He seemed to have abandoned his roots as fans shouted out to him between sets to play the popular songs of his past many as mentioned above yet it went in one ear and out the other. It just seemed like he could care less of what the fans wanted to hear. Again what a disappointment and what a waste of my hard earned money in these tuff economic times. I would of been better off staying home and popping in my CD of The Very Best Of Elvis Costello And The Attractions. At least then I wouldn't of been disappointed as I was in watching and listening to Elvis Costello And The Sugar Canes.
