Rule one.  You gotta love to smoke pot.  Rule two.  You gotta love to drink.  And rule three.  You gotta love to fuck.  Those are the three rules to follow when majoring in Sickology.  The MC introducing Tech N9ne schooled all the rookies who have never been to a Tech N9ne show.  This reviewer included.  Like an orgy in a sauna, everybody was hot, sweaty, and overly excited.  A combination of mowak punks, hip hop honeys, tattooed  thugs, and skate stoners were crammed into the House of Blues, San Diego classroom awaiting the teacher.  Ah, yes, just like a LA district high school except everybody actually wanted to be there.  The stage was decked out as a classroom complete with a clock that read 4:20.

The crowd chanted, “Areola!  Areola!  Areola!”  Finally answering the call, Tech N9ne, Kutt Calhoun, and Krizz Kaliko stood at the front of class.  Sick cannot solely describe the energy in the club.  Tech N9ne performed a large array of songs spanning over 10 years in the business.  If my memory serves me correct (because it was too crazy to remember everything) he performed (in no particular order) “Like Yeah” from Killer, “Riot Maker” and “’Bout Ta Bubble” from Everready, “Psycho Bitch” from Anghellic, and, of course, a few tracks like “Red Nose” and “Nothin’” from his latest release Sickology 101.  At one point in the performance, Tech silenced the beat and had the audience sing the hooks to “Mitch Blade” and “Imma Tell.”  That’s when you know the difference between a studio artist and a performer.  While other rappers survive on a bass line and catchy hook, Tech N9ne showed the people all he needed for a pro rhyme was his voice and the audience.  Needless to say, the entire class aced that test.  And just like a good teacher should, Tech celebrated with everyone during “Caribou Lou” by literally throwing his signature drink all over the crowd.  But unfortunately for this class, school had to come to an end.  And nothing drove the school kids crazier than a sing-a-long with “I’m a Playa.”

Insane, intense, and incredibly sick are the only words I can feasibly describe my first Tech N9ne show.  The only thing I was disappointed with was that I didn’t hear “Slacker”. . .but then again, there was a moment of confusion during the show when some douchbag sprayed mace on the floor.  To the person who sprayed in the audience:  Any real hood would have used their fists, only a punk-bitch would use a can of spray on unarmed people.  Hope your vagina didn’t get hurt in all the commotion!  Looks like someone needs to be schooled in the ass with a broomstick handle. . .haha, see you in detention bitch.
