So I went to the merch booth to try and figure out who the first band was (it definitely wasn't Thin Man). There were two older gentlemen standing there wearing LAPD caps looking after the Wild Weekend merch and when I asked, one of them kept insisting the first band was Grand Ole Party. I said, "it can't be, they're the headliner." The other gentlemen agreed. Made me chuckle.
Wild Weekend is basically an all girl band with the exception of the drummer (Hector), who was a replacement tonight because the normal drummer (Brian) plays in another band (The Muslims). When I listened to their music on myspace it reminded me of The Donnas, but with more of a punk vibe. Well, that punk vibe didn't translate in the live show. The vibe was more of a rock one, which I certainly welcomed because I'm really a fan of punk music. I didn't catch any of the songs titles except maybe one "Mad?" The second song had a really good riff to it. This was probably my favorite song of the set. I dug the next few songs they played. Musically, everything was pretty tight. Enjoyed it. Check them out.
