Them Terribles! is a band I came across on myspace some time ago. Don't remember exactly how I stumbled upon them, but after listening to a few of their tunes I bought their EP - Rock, Paper, Terribles on itunes. Six of the seven songs on it are really good, True Love and Rich Girls being my favorites. Not too sure about that Silly Bird number. They recently added a new track titled "Mona Lisa" which rocks. I found myself on their myspace page again a few weeks ago and noticed they were playing in San Clemente and decided to check them out.
They took the stage around midnight and the venue was just about empty. Mind you it didn't fill up earlier, but there were certainly a fair amount of people in there around 10:30pm. Matt made the comment "we got here as fast as we could", so maybe they were suppose to go on earlier. Who knows?
I dug the performance. They felt like a real band. And they still played as if the place was full. We got to hear all the songs that stand out on their EP including my favorite "True Love", but it wasn't obvious at first that's what they were playing. The song has a strong intro that can't be mistaken and for some reason it was. They also performed a few new songs. One was titled "Complicated" which I didn't care for to be honest. And the other was Sexual Chocolate or at least I think that was the name of it. My girlfriend thought the name was Sex and Chocolate. It was a pretty good song and made me think of the Eddie Murphy movie Made in America. Haha! Anyways, I'll be following this band. I think they have the potential to be huge. Keep the rock songs coming...
