Where to begin...  Soma can be cited as a contributing cause to the fall of The Scene.  This was because Soma's owner wanted a monopoly on all age venues in the area.  They called the fire marshall unnecessarily on them more than once.  They make high demands for the bands to sell tickets and don't treat the concert goers any better.  If you are waiting for mom or dad to pick you up from the show, don't think you can just wait outside for them because security will move you along like you were nothing but bums and not paying customers.  The sound usually sucks as well.  Crappy punk bands usually come here, but now and then, a good band comes and you are forced to bite the Soma bullet or not see them at all.  Long story short, the devil lives here.

Andrew Bird (1) 2/15/2009

There was a long, long...long long long wait for Andrew Bird to come on. When he finally came on stage, he started playing violin in the darkness alone. It was plucking at first with sound looping, but he then used the bow he was holding once the song's... Full Review

Lonely Dear (1) 2/15/2009

Opening Act For Andrew Bird
Lonely Dear is a band from Stockholm Sweden that San Diego was blessed to see thanks to Andrew Bird. While Bird was working on his latest album, he wanted a part to sound like how Lonely Dear does it, so someone else suggested they simply send the song... Full Review
