I think some of the best performances are when it’s just the artist and their guitar. It’s very pure. Big Daddy O’s show reminded me of that. He started off the set this way and played some original songs and covers. At one point he played a melody that included Gloria, Needle and the Damage Done among others. He also did a cover of Jimi Hendrix’s Angel with another musician playing electric guitar while he played his acoustic. He had a few challenges during the show that included breaking strings (twice) and illicited the comment “I broke my G string” that got a few laughs. Later in the set he brought in a full band that included a drummer, keyboard player and guitar player. They busted out some more blues songs. Then he invited the bass player from the Subdues to join them on stage.
