The crowd came in tighter when the band before Fleet Foxes ended. When they came out, Skyler Skjelset the only beardless of the band took a picture with a disposable camera of the masses waiting for them. Once they were ready, the band let everyone know that the banter would be kept to a minimum and they would just "jam out some songs". Their recordings are filled with their beautiful harmonious vocals, so there was some skepticism they could reproduce that quality. As soon as they began though, it was perfection. The sun had dropped so it made enjoying the music much easier, though even in the depths of hell their songs could be enjoyed. Still, on the third song they might have let everyone know their own difficulties in dealing with the weather when one band member said jokingly, "We're so exhausted to be here." However they felt, it did not detract from the performance. They still had some room for banter too despite what they had said. The drummer, Josh Tillman called out, "Have enough pizza and beer?" After shouts of reply he said, "I love you is not the proper response." They then played "White Winter Hymnal", one of, if not the most, standout songs they have under their belts. The bass became a little overbearing on the sixth song, but this was not a problem any time later. They had their own criticism of the sound saying after the eighth song that it was "funkier than usual". The verses were very catchy despite the music being "funky". There was a brief wait for the ninth song. They said before playing, "Thanks for your patience. One day we'll be a professional band." As they played I noticed the numerous bugs flying around the lights.Seeing they only had five minutes left, they seem to take a song request and then after another wonderful piece of music they were done. Not every song was equally interesting, but everything was amazingly beautiful. The music had such an old and classic quality through very fresh and young beings that there was no reason people of all kinds of ages could not enjoy Fleet Foxes. I have a lot of confidence in this band, so whether they stay to their current course or dare to experiment, they will probably come out golden.
