Lots of people like to compare Kate Nash to Lily Allen.  To me, this is about as accurate as saying Travis sounds like Coldplay.  At first listen, sure, maybe...  But any similarities were quickly dispelled once a few songs were performed.  For starters, Kate Nash comes across as much more mature(That may sound odd if you have never seen Lily Allen perform).  After all, Kate is only 21 years old and it's not hard to see she hasn't been performing live for a long time.  Songs were choppy at times, and I really didn't care for any of her piano-bashing outro's--a jam band they are not.  But what she lacks in performance experience is made up for in energy, spunk and catchy hooks.  She has a great voice with an occasional Regina Spektor-esque staccato.  Overall, an enjoyable set from an artist I will be watching for in the future.

Dude. Amen on the Travis/Coldplay comparison. Genre-wise, sure, maybe. But after that? Um--not so much.

That said, colour me bummed that Kate's not making the Houston rounds.

We are blessed with a decent music scene in Portland, Oregon... and it doesn't take much to garner the attention and hype of local audiences- - however, Kate didn't make such an effort at last nights concert (Wonder Ballroom). The crowd was bored (20% left by end of concert), her stage presence was sophomoric at best, and the show overall lacked substance - let alone engagement.

Kate has a decent skillset (cute, funky, decent voice, moderate musical talent), but she simply lacks the experience to put together her skills into a compelling offering. If she makes it past the wonder stage, I may give her a shot in a few years.

I paid $25/ticket. I probably wouldn't return for anything but free.

I'd rate it a 3/10 overall.
