Indie folk band Okkervil River started setting up and said over the microphone, "How are we doing?" The crowd cheered and a band member said with a laugh, "I was talking to our sound guy, not you." The first song was "Plus Ones" which was a good start. The keyboard/trumpet player was wearing a suit and tie. Hopefully it was worth it for him. Looking from him to the other typical indie folk musicians, the large number of security for this particular band seemed excessive, but perhaps they came early for the next band unfairly based on the rap genre. On the other hand, the crowd was getting a little crazy with a couple beach balls until luckily security saved us from one by mercilessly popping the deadly device. The Austin, Texas band played a couple more decent tunes before getting to a song with the lyrics "This is the worst trip I've ever been on" which seemed to be an answer to Dr. Dog's song, "Worst Trip" that asked the very question, "Is this the worst trip you have ever been on?" A couple songs later the singer went over to the drummer and then purposely fell on his back at the end of the song and then sat up to tune. On the sixth song there was a catchy beat that singled for clapping which the crowd went along with, but then later the clapping speed increased and many clappers gave up. The second last song happened to be the second best song of the set in my opinion. On the last song the singer sat briefly on the edge of the stage. It was another clapping song and he said, "I want to see all your hands," then added he did not want any of the other bands to have any of our claps. They did deserve a decent amount of claps for putting on a good show, but they did not deserve all my claps, so I saved some for later.
