Good, not great--that about sums it up. I hadn't seen Jenny and Co. since their Take Offs and Landings days, so I was eagerly awaiting to see how they have progressed. My first impression was, "Wow, they sound really clean." But as the set went on, they never quite pulled me all the way in. A lot has been written about their new album, both good and bad. I was always a bit indifferent about it, neither liking it or hating it. But the strange thing was, performances of Moneymaker(which I abhor) sounded great live and Silver Lining(my favorite song on the new disc) sounded hollow and bland. Go figure... They ended with Portions for Foxes, which was nice to hear. I'm still bummed they didn't perform It's A Hit, which is one of my favorite songs by anyone in the past 5 years. I'm not sure how their current record deal breaks down, but I don't see this band continuing past one, maybe two more albums. I do, however look forward to more solo work--Jenny Lewis w/ the Watson Twins, and Blake's band The Elected show far more creativity.
