The festival is worth going to. With the help of nice weather, Elemental Experience had an amazing line up, lots of artisans, and a bounty of activities. One could either watch muralists simultaneously spray paint their hearts away on a huge, white canvas, go to the 21+ section, groove to the electic DJs and enjoy drunken games, or just sit on the grass all day and listen to the live music. The downside was that there was no reentry, forcing you to choose between a full 10 hour day, or missing some incredible acts. Not to mention that no food or drinks were allowed in. I had to either suffer an entire day without food or alcohol, or commit to paying for over-priced, unsavory food, and $9 cocktails with barely any alcohol. I chose both, but to if I wanted to completely enjoy myself, I wouldn't have been able to get by without spending at least $50.

Overall, I had fun, the people were diverse and plentiful, and although it started as a family event, later in the night it turned you average outdoor music festival -- wildly insane.

[Matisyahu]   Venue: Mission Bay Park
Matisyahu is reggae enough to get you chillin, hip hop enough to get you groovin, and rock enough to put you in the zone. His is the music of this generation, mixed up, confused, yet in all the chaos, harmonic beauty is still apparent. Matisyahu was the... Full Review

If you read my review of the show before Bassnectar ( Pinback ) you know I was in a meditative trance. That wonderful bliss was horribly interrupted by the disgusting sounds of Bassnectar who was next on the line up. Before Bassnectar fans read my review... Full Review

[Pinback]   Venue: Mission Bay Park
The energy inside Elemental Experience had completely changed by the time Pinback got on stage. It was growing darker, colder, and the crowd had become much, much more intoxicated. I was getting the vibe that this crowd didn’t just want to merely listen... Full Review

[Mason Jennings]   Venue: Mission Bay Park
Mason Jennings attracted the first large crowd Elemental Experience had seen all day. As he set up, I could hear everything from whispers to shouts proclaiming his arrival was near and a good spot in the audience must be staked out. Wow, I thought to... Full Review

Awww…the mix of grimy good-looks and raw rock and roll can be summed up in two words: Dirty Sweet. If you read my review of their Casbah performance – you know I’m a huge fan. These guys are amazing musicians, inspiring performers, and a guaranteed good... Full Review

As I watched Pete and J, I saw three dudes on stage, but heard about twenty rock stars. No kidding. Pete Harper (vocals, acoustic and electric guitar, piano, keys), Jason Blynn (vocals, acoustic and electric guitar), and Sarab Singh (drums, percussion... Full Review

[Jay Nash]   Venue: Mission Bay Park
Dressed in a jean jacket and pants, with his old school, ruby red guitar, and knightly good looks – Jay Nash had me at hello. Behind him was a drummer and bass player, in front of him was a sparsely filled festival, but inside him was the sweetest, richest... Full Review
