San Diego, CA

The San Diego IndieFest was great. Lots of political energy backed by a sundry of musical talent. No matter where you went there was something to enjoy (or witness). 85 artists, constantly playing, were separated by theme, and you could either choose the stage of choice or just walk to every stage and try to get a taste of everything. The Main, Green, Women's, Acoustic, and Mature Audiences Stages were all really good, but my favorite was the movie theater they offered. Between shows I found myself venturing in the theater to cool down and rest my feet. They showed politically charged documentaries, some that peeled the scales from my eyes, others that put them right back on. Except for the IndieFest Crew, most of which were ridiculously annoying and needlessly controlling, it was a fun event that brought the San Diego community together while introducing us to some of the hottest local talent.

Introduced as "The greatest musician on the planet", Greg Friedman came on and started with the song on the Indiefest compilation, "Story Street". It was one of the standout songs on the compilation, but unfortunately nothing that... Full Review

[Juliette Lewis and the New Romantiques]
Standing there at the Main Stage at Indiefest, watching Juliette and the New Romantiques, I began to envision a younger Juliette watching the tele, being mesmerized by MTV’s 80s rock musicians. With their long hair, tight jeans, and dramatic stage performances... Full Review

Walking up to the Main Stage early afternoon, I was immediately captivated by the sca sounds erupting from Social Green. It was a warm, buttery temperature outside, and I felt delightful as I sipped on my cold beer and nibbled my hot dog. My delight was... Full Review

I left Juliette and the New Romantiques at the Main Stage and meandered over to the Green Stage. Astounded by the size of the crowd, which was larger than Juliette’s and growing at the same rate her’s was shrinking, I felt embarrassed. Was I the only... Full Review

I have been a long time fan of Alu. She sings like an angel. Her lyrics are intelligent and unique. Her music reminds me of an art film or some type of escape into a dream world. I find her work to be refreshing when so many so-called artists these days... Full Review

I hope I was not the only one who tilted their head when Oakland band Locura was introduced by the clueless announcer who said cheerfully that, "The bands have been great up until now." After that misstatement he went on to tell the crowd that... Full Review
