Introduced as "The greatest musician on the planet", Greg Friedman came on and started with the song on the Indiefest compilation, "Story Street". It was one of the standout songs on the compilation, but unfortunately nothing that followed was anything like or near it in quality. The performance of it was not as good live either, being a little too nasally. On the second song nothing special was going on until a part where the female keyboardist added backup vocals which all together made the music more interesting. I hoped for more of these moments, but it never returned. The next song was described by Friedman as a love song...to his dog, Pancake, adding that he was a good boy. From the lyrics it was revealed that the poor canine was found in a dumpster in Arizona. While not anything amazing musically, it was a silly and cute song. Before the fourth song someone handed Friedman a mysterious paper. He said, "Oh a million dollar record deal, sign here? Alright then." Friedman then announced he would give a free CD to the first person to tell him the name of his dog and gave it to the winning girl.Moving on to the next song, it began to get better. The words were about knowing Jada Pinkett. The constant theme of the music was direct and personal, but silly lyrics. This followed with a song about how while abroad in Korea, he was mistaken for Elijah Wood and so signed a school girl's folder, but felt bad about stealing the star's identity. I was more interested in how odd anyone would think he looks like Elijah Wood. I simply did not see it. The last song started quiet, but got to the loudest his music had been for the whole set. He knew it was best as a final tune. Friedman seemed like a good and fun person, but it is a shame his music did not shine far past his personal and silly lyrics besides his one first memorable song.
