I made a last minute decision to see Something with Numbers based on two things about them (Australia and Rock). It turned out to be a lot different than what I was anticipating. Note to self: pay more attention when artists like Ryan Cabrera and Hanson are on the same bill.

The first couple songs were pretty good, but I was taking pictures so the music didn't have my undivided attention. The third track was titled "Diamonds"...the lead singer says "this one is for the girls." Completely appropriate seeing as most of the audience were (young) girls. [See the Ryan Cabrera and Hanson reference above] The next tune was "Seventeen Places" with the chorus sung "I touched a girl in seventeen places..." One riff in the song sounded very similar to a Mars Volta riff, but I can't remember the name of the song at the moment. As Something with Numbers continued to play I realized that they fit firmly in what I would consider the Pop Punk genre. (I'm not a fan of said genre) A couple songs later they played a tune titled "Goodbye Mickey Finn" which started out acoustically then started to "rock." There was quite a bit of crowd chatter during this song, and I had ear plugs in. The next song was titled "Stay with me Bright Eyes" which was a bit cheese ball. The performance was pretty good, but I wasn't thrilled with the music and I was pulling for you damn aussies!
