The Summerbirds were the first of four bands to play before the headliner R.E.M. kicking off the show around 8pm. There was only one song that stood out for me during the set. I don't know the name, but it was the one they played right after the lead singer made the comment "this is a big place...we know, we've played some small ones." Haha. A couple songs later there were some technical difficulties. It sounded like a loop was stuck on. This dead time lasted for a couple minutes. At one point, the guitar player says "it's too experimental for you, you don't get it." Moments later, the lead singer says "it's too experimental for me too," because he couldn't figure out the problem. Summerbirds in the Cellar were a run of the mill indie rock band. Nothing special, but nothing horrible either.
