Dungen: Defined as an angelic, melodic, heavenly bliss.
These Swedish visitors brought the Scene up a notch. I'm not talking like higher energy, louder rock or bigger theatrics. I'm talking UPwards into the heavens and closer to God. Sweet, soothing vocals (mostly in a foreign language) from the lead singer were soft and lullabyed the crowd into an altered state. The lead and base strummed ever so softly, weaving in to their line up and out into improv. The vocals came and went, but for the most part, light, sixties-esque jamming took up the majority of the set. I felt like skipping through the clouds. I swear. These guys have a transcendental talent that sucks your stinky negative energy into their vacuum of harmony, then spits it back at you all fresh and clean smelling.
The lead vocalist plays the keys and flute, and if you can imagine the bird songs of a melodious flute meshed with a rupturing electric guitar, light cadence, and rhythmic belching of a bass -- you have yourself a modern, yet down home Dungen symphony. Remarkable in every sense, check these guys out next time they're in town.
