These guys definitely set the tone for the rest of the night. It was dark by the time Mastodon came on stage, and boy, did they make it darker. Discord isn't really my thing, and I believe 50 percent of the crowd would agree with me. Mastodon is one big headache. But melodic all the same. As I was cringing into my beer, others were in escaping into their favorite musical fantasy.

Their stage presence kept me mildly entertained. These were total bad guys. The guys in the movie that plunder and break the law but you cheer for them all the same. I just felt that they were all robots or something. Guitar playing robots. Soulless, empty, sadistic machines.
